Quickly configure permissions and start using Polyglance.
macOS Setup & Permissions
1. Installation
Download the latest .dmg from the Download page and drag Polyglance into your Applications folder.
2. Resolving "Damaged and cannot be opened" Prompt
Why does macOS block it?
Polyglance is a 100% free and open-source productivity app without an annual \$99 Apple Developer commercial notarization subscription. macOS Gatekeeper flags newly downloaded non-notarized applications with quarantine attributes, triggering alerts like "Damaged and cannot be opened" or "Unidentified Developer". The full codebase is transparently open on GitHub and completely safe to use. You can unblock it via any of the following methods:

Method 1 Allow in "System Settings" (Recommended)
- Dismiss Warning: Click "Cancel" or "Done" on the warning prompt (do NOT move to Trash).
- Open Privacy & Security: Click top-left menu → "System Settings" → select "Privacy & Security" in the sidebar.
- Click "Open Anyway": Scroll down to "Security". Locate "Polyglance was blocked from use because it is not from an identified developer", click "Open Anyway", verify your password or Touch ID, and click "Open" on the confirmation prompt.
Method 2 Finder Right-Click Open (Fastest)
- Open "Finder" and go to the "Applications" folder.
- Locate Polyglance, hold Control and click it (or right-click).
- Select "Open" from the context menu.
- Click the "Open" button on the popup to launch and permanently whitelist the app.
Method 3 Terminal Command (Removes Quarantine Attribute)
If the system reports that the app is damaged, open "Terminal" and run:
xattr -cr /Applications/Polyglance.app 3. Required Permissions
In System Settings → Privacy & Security, grant the following permissions:
- Accessibility: For global hotkeys and text selection inspection.
- Screen Recording: For OCR scanning, scrolling capture, and video recording.
Windows Setup
1. Installer (Recommended)
Download Windows-x64-Setup.exe from the Download page and run it. It configures startup shortcuts and enables seamless auto-updates.
2. Portable Archive
Download Windows-x64-Portable.zip from the Download page, extract it, and run Polyglance.exe directly.
3. SmartScreen Note
If Windows SmartScreen prompts, click "More info" → "Run anyway".
